After all these years of wishing you had someone to hold You finally got what you wanted Now there’s one too many boys who want to walk you home And that’s one more than you need You’re a victim of your own success Two is company but three is a mess So, you cry just a little You lie just a little You hide like a little girl You try just a little You sigh just a little You’re caught in the middle girl You’re caught in the middle These guys have been behavin’ like a couple of fools Competing for your attention Sounds funny but it only makes it harder for you You can’t even answer the phone You’re in love with each one half the time How’s a girl supposed to make up her mind? Now you cry just a little You lie just a little You hide like a little girl You try just a little You sigh just a little You’re caught in the middle girl You’re caught in the middle And there’s nowhere to go Your head is spinning round cause You’re in love with them both Shoulda’ listened when your mama Said you’re gonna have to learn to say “no” You’re a kid inside a candy store Got your hands full but you still want more You cry just a little You lie just a little You hide like a little girl Yeah, you try just a little You sigh just a little You’re caught in the middle girl You cry just a little You lie just a little You’re caught in the middle girl You’re caught in the middle

As Far as yesterday goes I’m really sorry for causing you pain As far as anyone knows You left before me, no need to explain It didn’t work out like we hoped it would I said some things that weren’t so good And you may still regret the path you chose As Far as yesterday goes Won’t you forgive me for losing my head? You came a little too close Brought back bad memories Awakened the dead Like one too many mornings after too much wine We had ourselves a few good times But did the high make up for all the lows I don’t know But your secrets are safe with me Locked away forever in my memory As real as you’ll ever be Sad, I suppose, but That’s as far as yesterday goes It didn’t work out like we hoped it would I said some things that weren’t so good And you’ll still come out smelling like a rose Like a rose But your secrets are safe with me I’ll never say a word about what used to be Agreeing to disagree One too many lows brought things to a close But your secrets are safe with me Locked away forever in my memory As real as you’ll ever be It’s sad I suppose But, that’s as far as yesterday goes

Picture 03:27
I saw a picture of you just the other day I don’t know where it came from You were smiling as you looked the other way It was summer or autumn I saw a picture of you just the other day I don’t know where it came from Thought of all the things I never got to say I had words but I lost em And though it seems like only yesterday You stood beside that wall The world has changed in almost every way You haven’t changed at all You haven’t changed at all I heard a tape of all the songs we used to play I don’t know where it came from Thought of everything we almost gave away We won some and we lost some I know we still got lots of things to see And places left to go But in the end we’re left with memories And things we’ll never know The things we’ll never know I found a letter that you sent me long ago Still can’t read your writing You said you didn’t know if you’d be coming home Guess you’re still deciding And when I phone you every other day You don’t return my call I know we said all that we need to say We haven’t changed at all We haven’t changed at all I saw a picture of you just the other day I don’t know where it came from Thought of all the things I never got to say I had words but I lost em It was summer or autumn

Girl, Don't 03:03
Girl, don’t Tell me that you think we’re through I won’t believe it even if it’s true It’s a matter of pride I’ll keep holding the tears inside Oh girl, why? After all that we’ve been through Please try remember I’ve been good to you You say I’m wasting my time Thinking I can still change your mind But don’t forget I was the one Who found you in the dark And turned the lights back on Don’t you think I know where this is going? Girl I think I know it’s gone, I’m begging you Girl, don’t Throwaway a love that’s right I, I know, we can get through one bad night Now you won’t look in my eyes While you’re trying to say goodbye But don’t forget I was the one Who pulled you back together When you came undone Girl I think I know where this is going Don’t you think I know it’s gone All the promises and all the plans (it’s gone) Torn to bits and slipping through our hands (it’s gone) Tell me why cause I don’t understand (it’s gone) Girl (girl, don’t) I’m begging you, girl (girl, don’t) I’m begging you, girl (don’t) Girl (girl) Don’t

Easier 02:49
Another conversation ends With open wounds and closing doors I raise a white flag overhead Too tired to face another war You win again, you win again This time without much of a fight Cause giving up or giving in Is easier than being right And all the time we spend Quietly keeping score When we should be giving more We play each other very well We know where all the buttons are But, baby can you’ll tell me why Should being easy be so hard Cause all the time we lose Taking off the gloves When we should be making love Don’t wanna lose this precious thing Won’t give it up without a fight Let’s say we’re both a little wrong It’s easier than being right It’s easier than being right

Sandreen 03:01
I, I can′t seem to forget her Rings from the coffee cup on her letter Though I try and I try to understand why She is like she is Oh Sandreen I've been Wondering if you Still scream at night Oh hold tight my Sandreen Words fall through the hole in my ceiling She calls I forget what i′m feeling There's a knock at my door I've been here before Oh yes I remember Oh Sandreen I've been Wondering if you Still scream at night Oh hold tight my Sandreen Sandreen I've been Wondering if you Still scream at night Oh hold tight my Sandreen

On a summer day in a west coast town She is making all our heads spin round And as sunshine melts the clouds away On a summer day All the young men trying not to stare But the way she walks, it’s just not fair And I think I’ll have to catch her eye Or at least I’ll try Where did she come from (I don’t know) She brings the sun (wherever she goes) And we’re hoping she’s gonna stay Never take our sunshine away Found the words and the nerve And my moment’s here But there’s nine more guys with the same idea Guess I’ll get in line and wait my turn Gotta talk to her What will you tell her (I don’t know) Start with the weather (and see where it goes) And if most of my words land right Summer days might just turn into nights Rumor has it there’s a trail of broken hearts And mine could be the next to break You could say I know Shake your head if you want But she’s a chance I’m willing to take On a summer day There’s a warm breeze blowing through our town And it’s turned the whole place upside down Wouldn’t have it any other way On a summer day Oo, summer

She grows where she’s planted And she’s planted here with me She blooms in the morning And she sways so gracefully She grows where she’s planted And she thrives most anywhere She’s fine in the sunshine Or the shade beneath the stairs I’m just the dirt that she finds underfoot As she’s brightening my day But even a beautiful flower needs dirt And she seems to like me anyway She grows where she’s planted But she never stays for long She’s there when your eyes close When they open she’ll be gone She scatters her options and they Float along the breeze Her harmless intentions bring us Gardeners to our knees She’ll be putting down the roots Long after we’ve all gone to sleep She grows where she’s planted And she’s planted here with me But she’s getting restless I’m pretending not to see I’m just the dirt that she’ll find underfoot As she’s walking away But even a beautiful flower needs dirt And I’ve already asked her to stay

You do something to me Everytime we meet In our secret places Or in the middle of the street My hands on your face Or sometimes on your feet You do something to me baby And it feels so sweet, yeah Ba ba ba, ba ba ba You sent me those pictures From your steamy bath Girl you’re so unpredictable You always make me laugh And I just want to tell the world That you’re really mine It’s so easy to say I love you, I love you, I love you All the time You do something to me And it feels so good You do something to me, baby Like only love could Like only love could Too me We’re dancing in the living room Feels so good

It was a day she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget Look at me I’m falling apart Cause another love is over Before it could start Strangers on an overseas flight Got to know each other better As the day turned to light I had fallen by the time the wheels touched down When I turned around to tell her She was nowhere to be found It was a day she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget It was the last time that I saw her It was the first time that we’d met I’ll be waiting for a time when she’s off my mind But it hasn’t happened yet It was a day she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget Paris was a waste of my time Even Mona Lisa couldn’t get the girl off my mind London only caused me more pain After thinking that I saw her Through the fog and the rain At a coffee shop in Amsterdam I lost control Started asking perfect strangers if They’d seen her with Van Gogh It was a day she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget It was the last time that I saw her It was the first time that we’d met Thought we had a little spark I can’t trust my heart It was all just in my head It was a don’t she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget She made a very deep impression In a very short time I guess I’ll never learn my lesson I know I’ll always end up crying It was a day she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget It was the last time that I saw her It was the first time that we’d met I’ll be waiting for the time when she’s off my mind But it hasn’t happened yet It was a day she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget It was a day she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget It was a day she won’t remember It was a night I can’t forget

Genevieve 02:45
I knew this day was bound to come You’re saying that you should be moving on Nothing I could say is gonna make you stay I know I see you stole that photograph The one where you were trying to make me laugh You were so much fun I’m gonna miss the times we had Genevieve Please don’t leave me now Genevieve I’ll miss you I guess the world caught up to you So many things you said you still needed to do I hope you find your dreams before they get away from you Genevieve Please don’t leave me now Genevieve I’ll miss you So many nights we couldn’t let go It felt so right you even said so Nothing I could say is gonna make you stay I know Genevieve Please don’t leave me now Genevieve I’ll miss you Genevieve, yeah I knew this day was bound to come

Running Away 03:46
It’s never been harder To tune out the noise The world just gets louder Can’t hear my own voice No more reflection Just stare at the lights Too much introspection Only keeps me up at night Used to be satisfied Just enjoying the ride While the Earth made Rings around the sun Now I’m all plugged in Getting dizzy from the spin And it’s so much easier to run I’m always running away, running away Running away from myself I’m always running away, running away Running away from myself Drowned in distraction And told that I’m free All these contraptions Do my dreaming for me I’ve got all these friends Both real and pretend To keep me company at home I can send and receive From the moment I leave So I never have to be alone I’m always running away, running away Running away from myself I’m always running away, running away Running away from myself So we live till we die And we never ask why We got too much time and then it’s gone And we sit in the rain But we never complain Just as long as the televisions on I’m always running away, running away Running away from myself I’m always running away, running away Running away from myself I’m always running away, running away Running away from myself I’m always running away, running away Running away from myself

You win again, you win again This time without much of a fight Cuz giving up or giving in Is easier than being right Cuz all the time we lose Taking off the gloves While we should be making love I’m so content when you’re content Come here let’s share a bowl of rice It’s better than a bowl of ice For all I care, you win again And here we go… For all I care, you win again For all I care, you win again. Notes on song: Seth's original demo of the song that became "Easier".
14.
Notes on song: This is a demo I made at home of what ended up being The Red Button song “Picture”. I only had the first lyric line — Mike came in and wrote a beautiful verse w/lyric and we had a new song. Typical of how our co-writes went.
15.
Notes on song: This is the same version that was released on our album “As Far As Yesterday Goes” except for the add brass band that Mike (who produced The Red Button) added into this version. At the time, we both couldn’t pull the trigger on letting this be the released version, thinking it might be a bit over the top. Looking back, I wish we had. It’s fun!
